The Outstanding 2019 BMW X3 Builds on Improvements

New look, same great BMW performance: the BMW X3 compact luxury SAV was all-new for 2018, and brought a thrilling breath of fresh air to an already-competitive crossover. The recently redesigned cabin and exterior give this premium model an upgraded feel, while classic engine options keep it a top rival in Murrieta. BMW hasn't made any big changes for this second year in the new generational cycle, but there's still plenty to look forward to. For 2019, trim levels include the all-new rear-wheel-drive BMW sDrive30i, the all-wheel-drive xDrive30i, and the BMW X3 M40i.

Standard BMW Comforts

While the model has been redesigned in overall styling for the new generation, it's not missing the features that you knew and loved from the previous model generation--BMW kept everything that worked, so the flow of the interior cabin design is very similar. However, small changes like a larger touchscreen that sits more prominently forward for ease of use, an addition of more soft-touch materials, and some slight tweaking of layout, make a big difference in this stylish new SAV. Behind the rear seat, the 2019 BMW X3 is able to offer 28.7 cubic feet of cargo space; with the rear seat folded, you'll get up to 62.7 cubic feet of total usable room.

Sleeker, Bolder, Bigger

Thanks to redesign efforts, the new 2019 BMW X3 is slightly wider, larger, and more well-muscled than its previous generation (the reason for the expanded cargo room). Options like an M Sport package and a Dynamic Handling package offer some further customization of the exterior, and add some striking design accents. Performance, and efficiency, are advanced by a BMW Active Kidney Grille, BMW Air Curtains, and an M Aerodynamic kit (standard on X3 M40i models) all actively or passively manage the flow of air currents around the vehicle to make it feel like you're cutting right through the wind.

Engine Performance and AWD

No surprise that the new 2019 BMW X3 brings some serious potency to a class that's often defined by practicality to a fault. Standard power comes from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Most models in the current lineup come standard with xDrive all-wheel drive, but if you're looking for more muscle, consider the X3 M40i, good for 355 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque via 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. The base sDrive30i model is all-new for 2019, and is the first of the new generation to offer a more-efficient and more affordable rear-wheel-drive system.

Technology and Media

Not just beautiful, but smart--the 2019 BMW X3 gives you instant access to media, music, apps, calls, and more through an updated BMW iDrive infotainment system. The newest version of iDrive can use natural language understanding and BMW Gesture Control to hear and see your commands, and can respond appropriately. Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and USB connectivity make it even easier to stay connected to business and pleasure while you travel. Add features like driver-seat memory settings, premium 12-speaker audio system, and climate-controlled seats to boost your comfort level even further.
