Explore the New 2019 BMW 5 Series Sports Sedan: A California Favorite

It's undeniable that the BMW 5 Series is a legacy in Murrieta--from its iconic styling, to its passionate performance, to a sumptuously comfortable cabin, there's nothing that can really compare to this midsize sports sedan. With subtle updates to a recently-redesigned line, including new powertrain options, BMW continues to up the ante with its market-leading luxury car. For 2019, trim levels include the BMW 530i, 530e iPerformance, 540i, and M550i.

Interior Features

The 2019 BMW 5 Series is well-equipped at every level, offering features like SensaTec leather upholstery, front-seat memory, luxury seating options (genuine leather and multi-contour comfort seats with massage and warmth control), and a variety of stylish interior options. The cabin is welcoming and refined, plush and supportive, and doesn't compromise on sporty ride quality.

Exterior Design

There was a pretty major change to exterior of the BMW 5 Series last year: namely, the 2018 lineup dropped its long-backed Gran Turismo option, to be able to focus exclusively on the classic four-door sedan configuration. That new attention to, and obsession with, detail leads BMW to be able to further improve on the gorgeous exterior of the 2019 BMW 5 Series.

Engine Options

Bad news first: the BMW 540d diesel engine, which was a brand-new offering just last year, has already been discontinued as BMW quietly slims down its diesel offerings in the US. But, that still leaves the 2019 BMW 5 Series with an impressive options list: a 248-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 335-horsepower 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, a 456-horsepower 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, and an efficient 248-horsepower 2.0-liter twin-turbo hybrid-electric powertrain. xDrive AWD is available--or standard--on all models.

Technology and Safety

Technology and connectivity is an area in which the 2019 BMW 5 Series really shines, offering equipment like a 10.2-inch iDrive infotainment media display, standard navigation, available Wi-Fi, smartphone connectivity through an Apple CarPlay media and navigation subscription package, a Bowers & Wilkins system, rear-seat entertainment system, and a lot more. In safety, an optional Driving Assistance Package offers a rearview camera, a head-up display, and front and rear parking sensors, while a Driving Assistance II Package expands with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and frontal collision warning.
