The most important thing to do after an accident is to stay calm. Follow these steps if you’re suddenly in a car accident on one of our Corona roads:

What to Do After a Car Accident

  • Check to see if anyone is injured. If so, call 911.
  • If possible, pull your vehicle off the road and out of the way, but not too far from the scene of the accident.
  • Call the police so that they can file an accident report.
  • Exchange insurance and contact information with the other driver.
  • Do not admit fault — fault in an accident is a legal determination arrived at by insurance companies and courts. Relay the facts of the case truthfully to police and your insurance company without admitting fault.
  • Take pictures of the damage of both vehicles, regardless of who is at fault.
  • Call your insurance carrier, regardless of who is at fault or what kind of coverage you have.
  • Follow up with medical professionals if you were injured.

How to File a Car Insurance Claim

You will want to file a car accident insurance claim as soon as possible after an accident. It is generally not a good idea to talk to the other driver’s insurance company or attorney. Let your insurance company do that.
