Three Levels of Electric Car Charging

There are three main types of electric car chargers. Compare them and their electric car charge times, here:

Level 1 Domestic Outlet Home Charging (Regular Outlet)

Level 1 uses a household 120V three-prong charging outlet. This is the slowest option, taking multiple days to receive a complete charge from 0–100%. The best time to charge an electric car with this type of outlet is overnight, just to replenish the range you need for your daily errands.

Level 2 Installed Brand-Approved Domestic Charging

Level 2 uses an OEM-approved 240V charging station that can be installed at home by a certified technician. Using Level 2, your electric car charging time reduces to mere hours! The best time to charge an electric car with a Level 2 charger is virtually anytime since you can gain so much more battery power in a short period of time.

Level 3 Public DC Fast Charging

Level 3 DC fast charging is currently only available at public charging stations, like the ones you find at parking garages, big box stores, malls, hotels, apartment complexes, and other places. Using one of these chargers, you can often charge an electric vehicle in just 30 minutes or less!
