Heading out for a long road trip outside of Corona soon? You’ll want to be sure your BMW has the proper tire pressure to ensure a safe ride. The recommended BMW tire pressure for most models is 32 PSI (pounds per square inch), though you should always double-check by looking at the sticker on the inside edge of the driver’s door. If you don’t see the information here, you can refer to your BMW owner’s manual. How to Check Tire Pressure

Maintaining the right BMW tire pressure in your BMW X5 or 3 Series tires will help ensure a smoother ride and better handling in Riverside. And, according to the Department of Energy, it can even improve your fuel efficiency by up to 3.3 percent! Most new BMW models are equipped with a convenient tire pressure monitor, which will alert you if there is an issue. If you’re checking your tire pressure on your own, it’s recommended that you do so when your tires are cold (or not immediately after your car was driven). Follow our step-by-step instructions for checking tire air pressure, below:

  1. Unscrew the valve stem cap
  2. Place a tire pressure gauge evenly onto the valve stem and firmly press down
  3. The tire pressure gauge will display the PSI
  4. Remove the tire pressure gauge
  5. Replace the valve stem cap

If your tires are over their recommended PSI, you can let some air out by pressing down the center plunger in the valve stem. Then, check the pressure again. If your tires have less than the recommended PSI, you’ll want to be sure to fill them up to the recommended level. This can be done quickly and easily the next time you fill up at a gas station in Ontario with a tire fill station.

What is the BMW Tire Pressure Monitoring System?

The BMW Tire Pressure Monitoring System, or BMW TPMS, is a system in your vehicle that uses tire pressure sensors to check the air pressure of your tires. While you drive, the BMW TPMS will monitor all four tires (and, if included, your spare tire) to ensure the tires maintain their recommended pressure. If the sensors notice that one or more of the tires aren’t at the recommended pressure, a warning light on your dashboard will turn on or flash. Keeping an eye on your BMW Tire Pressure Monitoring System light will help you avoid flat tires, blowouts, or poor traction on the Murrieta roads.

  • It’s smart to do a quick visual inspection of your tires on a regular basis. If your tread is worn out or the sidewalls are showing some cracks, it’s time to replace your tires.
